Creating a Cultural Burning Knowledge Hub was a recommendation of Scott Falconer’s 2017 Churchill Fellowship. Scott travelled to North America and Canada in 2018 as part of the Lord Mayor’s Bushfire Appeal Churchill Fellowship where his research focused on exploring partnerships and creating jobs for Traditional Owners with a particular focus on returning Cultural Burning to Country.
One of the recommendations of Scott’s Churchill Fellowship report was to develop a knowledge repository and knowledge network to allow sharing of information across jurisdictions regarding Cultural Burning and related issues.
This Cultural Burning Knowledge Hub was funded by the Victorian Government’s “Safer Together” program and developed by Forest Fire Management Victoria in partnership with Traditional Owners, Parks Victoria, CFA and Federation of Victorian Traditional Owners Corporations.
